KWU Official Found Dead this Morning

SALINA, Kan. — Salina Police are investigating the death of the head of Kansas Wesleyan University’s teacher education department.

In a statement from KWU, Dr. Eileen St. John passed away in her office this morning. Emergency personnel responded to the campus about 7:45 AM on the report of someone being found injured. She was found after the building she was in was secured by law enforcement.

KWU president Dr. Matt Thompson said in a message to the college community she was a leader on campus and a family-oriented individual who gave her all to her students every day. Chaplains were being made available for students and staff, with assistance being provided by counselors from Salina USD 305 and other organizations.

Classes at Kansas Wesleyan have been canceled through Friday and all activities through the weekend including athletics will be postponed.
