HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Hutchinson Kansas Honor Flight Volunteers are having a Pancake Fundraiser on March 11th from 4 to 7 pm at the Hope Church on 17th and Main, Hutchinson.   Donations will help honor our Kansas WWII, Korean, and Vietnam Era Veterans with a FREE 3 day-2 Night trip to Washington DC to see their memorials.

About Kansas Honor Flight and Volunteers

The Kansas Honor Flight was formed in 2012. This 501 (c) 3 non-profit is governed by a 9-member board of directors.  Through the end of 2021, 3,046 Kansas veterans who served our country during the WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War eras have been provided this memorable trip to visit their Memorials in Washington, D.C. Flights occur in April, May, June, September, October, and November.

The funds to provide this trip which is free to qualified veterans come from a grateful public. No funding is received from federal, state, or local governments. Additionally, there are no paid employees, offices, vehicles, office equipment, etc. All arrangements and flight leaders are volunteers as well as all fund-raising events across the state.

The cost to send a veteran on the normal 3-day-2 night trip is approximately $900.00. Guardians who travel with those veterans needing assistance make a contribution to cover their expenses.

Veterans are called in the order that they submit their applications with priority given to WWII, then Korean War, and then Vietnam War veterans. Any veterans from these war eras who are deemed to be terminally ill is given top priority.

The Kansas Honor Flight Hutchinson (KHF) Volunteers are fully powered by all volunteers. The Kansas Honor Flight volunteers work to honor Kansas veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War by providing them with an ALL-EXPENSE PAID, THREE-DAY JOURNEY of honor and remembrance to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C. The organization also works to educate the youth and communities throughout Kansas about the impact of these historic wars and the freedoms our nation enjoys because of the service of our veterans.

The trip cost is approximately $900 per veteran.  We have approximately 450 Kansas Veterans waiting to go on this once-in-a-lifetime trip.  You can help in sending a Veteran.

Our volunteers come from all ages, shapes, sizes, and all walks of life.  We have students, business owners, active duty and retired military, TV and media personnel, moms, dads, brothers, sisters, and much, much more!  There is always PLENTY of work to be done and we’d love to have You!
