Kansas Army National Guard Features Reno County Sheriff Darrian Campbell at Black Hawk Flight Event

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Reno County Sheriff Darrian Campbell was the soldier spotlight feature during the Kansas Army National Guard Black Hawk Orientation Flight event last Wednesday at Stringer Fine Arts Center on the Hutchinson Community College campus. Command Sgt. Maj. Darrian Campbell is the senior noncommissioned officer of the Kansas National Guard’s 130th Field Artillery Brigade. Sheriff Campbell was chosen to spotlight the Kansas National Guard’s event because of his experience with the local guard unit as well as having a successful civilian career as Reno County Sheriff.

The purpose of the Kansas Army National Guard’s program Wednesday was to share information about the guard’s capabilities, benefits and showcase some of their various pieces of equipment. They discussed the role that the Kansas National Guard plays in support of the Nation’s defense as well as in local communities. National Guard recruiters from across the state talked about the benefits and incentives available including college education tuition assistance for those who join the guard.

Sheriff Campbell graduated from Little River High School in 1988 and began his military career in the Marines Corp where he spent four years in active duty. Campbell began his law enforcement career at the Reno County Sheriff Office in Feb of 1994. Campbell has been Reno County Sheriff since 2019. Darrian has also pursued a parallel career in the military. He joined the Kansas Army National Guard in 1995.
