IOLA, Kan. — A team of students from Kansas State University will be taking part in the city of LaHarpe’s community cleanup Saturday. The students will be leaving Friday afternoon and will undergo a training session prior to departing.

This is part of the Alternative Break program hosted by the Staley School of Leadership Service Team and is an opportunity for K-State students to participate in an intensive service experience during winter, spring and weekend breaks, traveling to sites around the Midwest and working with local residents to learn how communities are addressing pressing social issues.

Also assisting in the cleanup organized by the LaHarpe PRIDE Committee are employees from Southern Star Gas and Nelson Quarries, along with other volunteers.

If you are in LaHarpe and have a project can sign up at city hall or contact Michelle Altis at 620-496-2241, Stacy Jackman at 620-496-1000 or Marcia Davis at Thrive Allen County at 620-365-8128.
