RENO COUNTY, Kan. – A Hutchinson man was taken into custody on Wednesday for possessing stolen property and opiates.
Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted to a stolen tag on a vehicle traveling East on 4th St around K14 shortly before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8th. A traffic stop was initiated near 4th/Hendricks, the driver of the suspect vehicle pulled over and waited for the Deputy to approach, and then drove off.
The pursuit then went east on 4th Ave and through the city limits of Hutchinson. The primary Deputy pursuing the vehicle was able to conduct a Tactical Vehicle Intervention South of 56th Ave on Plum St. Ultimately the vehicle went over the curb and stopped just before the roundabout.
The driver, a 55-year-old male from Hutchinson, was taken into custody without incident. The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Andover and the tag was confirmed stolen out of Wichita. A substance believed to be methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.
The driver is being charged with Possession of opiates w/ 2 or more priors, Possession of Paraphernalia, Felony possession of stolen property, Felony Flee and Elude, Felony Interference, Driving While Suspended, and Illegal Display.
