Hutchinson Fire Department Reminds Residents to be Vigilant as Fire Season Approaches

SHARE NOW

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – As fire season quickly approaches, the Hutchinson Fire Department (HFD) reminds residents to be vigilant with any outside burning or anything that may produce sparks.

HFD responded to multiple grass fires in Reno County on Monday.

A burn permit must be obtained before any open burning can take place. Open burning includes brush, trash, and debris piles, as well as vegetation residue and dried plant growth collected and piled. The same applies to open burning for agricultural purposes.

Fires such as those conducted in a fireproof container with an ember restricting cover, such as fire pits, warming fires, campfires, or other recreational fires are exempt.

Other restrictions and guidelines can be found online at https://www.renogov.org/593/Controlled-Burn-Guidelines or by calling (620) 694-2800.
