HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Hutchinson City Council Tuesday tabled final plat approval for the Kingpin Subdivision located along North Lorraine that would combine four lots on a 7.8-acre site north of 21st Ave into one.
Evergy has proposed placing a substation on the site, which has previously gone undeveloped. It would retain its current zoning designation as commercial. Chris Meyer from Evergy told council members that the substation would easily fit on the site and would also allow for future expansion.
A petition was presented to the City by residents in the area who oppose the plat on several grounds, including noise and health concerns.
Mayor Jon Richardson requested that the item be tabled until City Attorney Paul Brown, who was not present at Tuesday’s meeting, has a chance to review the petition and other related issues.
This issue will be back before the Council at their July 5th meeting.
