Hutchinson Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Smallville Festival June 15-17, Registration Open for Several Events

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Join Hutch Rec in June as Hutchinson celebrates the 10th anniversary of becoming Smallville, Kansas.

Smallville Festival kicks off on the Third Thursday, June 15th, where the proclamation is read, and Hutchinson, Kansas, will officially change its name to Smallville, Kansas; home of Clark Kent, better known as Superman.

This celebration focuses on small-town values like traditions, hard work, grit, determination, and pride in where we live.

Smallville Challenge

Take on the ALL NEW ???????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????? presented by DCI, on June 17 during Smallville Festival. In this “Amazing Race”-style event, four-person teams will compete to solve a string of fun-filled physical, trivial, and mental agility challenges throughout Downtown Hutchinson and BEYOND!

Disc Golf Tournament

Take on Smallville’s newest Disc Golf Course to become the first-ever champion of the Smallville Open Disc Golf Tournament in Rice Park.

Winners in each division will be given an award and recognized in Smallville’s Champions Awards Ceremony at the Kansas State Fair at 6 p.m. on June 17.

Obstacle Course

Registration is open for the Kansas State Fair’s Smallville Superhero Obstacle Course presented by ONEOK, Inc. Any superhero can overcome these fun and challenging inflated obstacles, which are designed for ages 12 and up.

The course will be set up inside the Kansas State Fairgrounds Racetrack area, and the first 200 participants will receive a finisher’s medal and T-shirt.

Awards will be given to the top three finishers in the men’s, women’s, and youth divisions, and recognized at the special Smallville Festival Awards Ceremony at the Kansas State Fair on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Smallville 5K at Strataca

Lace up those running shoes and explore the hidden depths of Smallville – the Smallville 5K at Strataca, on June 17 at 8:00 a.m. Participants will run 650 feet below ground where Superman’s suit is on display year-round! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to explore this hidden gem right beneath our feet.

Fee: $50 through May 31; $55 from June 1-11; $60 from June 12-16

Ages: 8 and older (NOTE: Participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult who is also registered for the race)
