HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Dr. Tricia Paramore was officially named the new President of Hutchinson Community College at a special meeting of the Board of Trustees Wednesday afternoon. Following a brief executive session and with one member absent, Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Paramore, currently Vice President for Academic Affairs, to succeed retiring President Carter File effective July 1st.

Following the vote, Dr. Paramore told Ad Astra News she is humbled to be able to serve the institution in this way, “Dr. File has done an excellent job in setting us up for the next step, and I’m just really excited to see what we will do together as an institution.”

Over the next few months, Dr. Paramore said she wants to do a lot of listening. This includes those who directly report to her, Trustees, community members, business owners, school superintendents, legislators, and students to hear “and hear how the college can serve the community in different ways.”

Dr. Paramore, a Hutchinson native, was one of three finalists interviewed for the position. She joined HutchCC as a biology instructor in 1996, and in 2006 she became chair for the science, math and social science department, a role she held until she was named Vice President of Academic Affairs in February 2023.

Dr. Paramore will also become the first female president in the 96-year history of Hutchinson Community College.
