HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College is excited to announce the opening of its new Barbering School, offering students the opportunity to gain a comprehensive education in the art and science of barbering. Located at 200 E. 3rd Ave. in Hutchinson, the school will provide aspiring barbers with the essential skills and hands-on experience needed to succeed in the ever-growing beauty and grooming industry.
With a state-of-the-art facility, HutchCC’s Barbering School offers cutting-edge training in cutting, styling, shaving, grooming, and customer service.
“Our barbering school reflects our commitment to empowering the next generation of barbers,” said Alex Hass, Advisor for the program. “We are excited to offer a curriculum that blends traditional techniques with modern trends, preparing students for a rewarding career in a dynamic and creative profession.”
As the only public barbering school in the state, HutchCC will offer both certificate and associate degree programs, designed to accommodate students of all backgrounds, from high school graduates to those seeking a career change. Students will have the chance to learn and practice in fully equipped barbershop-style classrooms, with opportunities to gain real-world experience before graduating in as few as 11 months.
In addition to practical skills, students will receive training in health and safety standards, business management, and the latest industry trends to ensure they are well-rounded professionals. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to sit for their state licensing exams and begin working in barbershops, salons, and other grooming establishments.
