WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S House of Representatives passed H.R. 26, the Protecting American Energy Production Act by a vote of 226-188.

If passed by the U.S. Senate, the bill will prohibit any federal moratorium (legally authorized delay/suspension of activity) on the use of hydraulic fracturing, giving States the authority over regulation of hydraulic fracturing for oil and natural gas production on State and private lands.

The bill would also prohibit future presidents from declaring a moratorium / banning fracking without consent of Congress.

U.S. Representative Tracey Mann (KS-01) voted to advance H.R. 26 and released the following statement after the vote.

“America needs a robust energy strategy that prioritizes renewable energy, fossil fuels, natural gas, and oil, not Green New Deal policies that pick and choose winners and losers for the sake of pleasing a radical base,” said Rep. Mann. “I voted for the Protecting American Energy Production Act to promote America’s energy independence and defend our energy supply from federal overregulation. When energy costs are handcuffing American families, we need to provide solutions, not more anti-fossil fuel policies that weaken our energy self-reliance and U.S. national security.”
