High Fire Danger on Tuesday, Reno County Landfill Not be Accepting Any Burnt Materials

SHARE NOW

HUTCHINSON, Kan.  – With a Fire Weather Watch in place for Tuesday, the Reno County Landfill will not be accepting any burnt loads, burn barrels or any burnt materials. The facility’s high wind possible could also mean an early closure.

The National Weather Service in Wichita has forecasted extreme to catastrophic grassland fire danger for Tuesday, with low relative humidity and Southwest winds gusting over 40 mph.

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and become very difficult to control. Outdoor burning is not recommended. A Fire Weather Watch remains in place through late Tuesday night.

Updates on the landfill’s status will be posted online at renogov.org and on the Reno County Facebook and Twitter pages.
