CHANUTE, Kan. — The Neosho County Community College Foundation is proud to announce the Heenan family as the 2025 NCCC Heritage Family. This annual honor is bestowed on a family who represents outstanding support for Neosho County Community College and its endeavors.

The Heenan family has been proudly associated with NCCC approximately 60 years.  Joseph Heenan was an adjunct instructor with the college when classes were held at the high school and continued in that capacity until 1976.  His wife Mary, was a stay-at-home mom until their youngest child began school.  At that time, she began her college journey and obtained her Associates degree in 1967.  Their son Tim obtained an Associate’s degree from NCCC in 1980.  After graduating in 1980, he then attended Washburn University where he earned his bachelors in business and economics. In 2011 he earned an additional Associates in Engineering Technology as well as certificates in welding I and II.  Carolyn Heenan completed Management Level 1 in May of 1991.

The Mary and Joseph Heenan Endowed Scholarship was established in February 2016. Since that time, the Heenan scholarship has made it possible for numerous students to follow their dreams and gain valuable knowledge to enrich their lives and provide for their future endeavors. Tim Heenan has served on the NCCC Foundation Board since 1999. In this capacity, he has served on the finance and scholarship committees. Tim voluntarily researches grant opportunities that may benefit the Institution and shares those with the NCCC Foundation Director. Additionally, the Heenan family are annual supporters of NCCC Athletics. Not only do they donate financially to various programs on campus; they actively attend and support events throughout the year.

NCCC will celebrate and recognize this proud Panther family during halftime of the men’s basketball game on Saturday, February 22, 2025. The family will be on hand to visit with friends in the board room.
