ELKHART, Kan. — An Elkhart, Kansas bank, Heartland Tri-State Bank, with two branches in south central Kansas including one in Arlington, has been seized by state banking regulators.
The Office of the State Bank Commissioner seized Heartland Tri-State Bank Friday after an ongoing investigation determined it was insolvent. The bank commissioner appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to act as receiver.
The bank has been acquired by Dream First Bank of Syracuse, which will reopen under that name Monday. In addition to Elkhart and Arlington, the bank also had branches in Attica and Rolla.
In the meantime, Heartland Tri-State customers will still be able to use their ATM and debit cards and use checks on their accounts, and loan payments will still need to be made.
In a release Friday, OSBC said Heartland Tri-State Bank became insolvent due to an isolated event, and overall the Kansas banking industry is unaffected by this event and Kansas banks remain strong.
