TOPEKA, Kan. — The Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation will be holding its 24th Kansas Mission of Mercy Dental project January 17-18 in Hutchinson, KS at the Kansas State Fairgrounds Meadowlark Building.
“The KMOM project is a free dental clinic where patients are treated on a first come, first served basis,” said Niki Sadler, Executive Director of the Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation. “They will be treated by one of the hundreds of dentists or dental hygienists who volunteer to be a part of this event.”
There are no appointments or reservations, and treatment options include fillings, extractions, and cleanings. However, parents can go online and schedule an appointment time for their children ages 13 and under. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Patient information and the link to schedule children https://KMOMKIDS.as.me/ can be found at www.ksdentalfoundation.org.
Volunteers are still needed for this event. No dental experience is needed and general volunteers will be assigned when they arrive. They can expect to assist with jobs such as…walk patients from one are of the clinic to the next, pass out food to waiting patients, set up food in the volunteer break area, translate (if bi-lingual), pick up trash, assist with patient flow, and more. Volunteer registration can be found until January 14 at www.ksdentalfoundation.org. Walk-in volunteers will also be registered on-site until the needs of the clinic are full.
