By Kansas Department of Transportation

A field survey is expected to begin around Monday, Aug. 7, for a proposed bridge replacement on U.S. 50 west of Hutchinson.

The survey will be for a bridge replacement over Sugar Creek, near Abbyville, and shown on the map. The length of the field survey is 5,000 feet, and the survey will be based on the existing alignment.

This field survey — to gather information needed for the detailed design of the proposed improvement — is estimated to be completed by Oct. 1.

A member of the survey crew first will contact property owners and/or tenants for permission to enter private property. Survey activities will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the survey corridor.

Michael Small, P.S., Project Manager, MKEC, will be in charge of this survey for the Kansas Department of Transportation.
