McPHERSON, Kan. — One person lost their life in a Sunday evening fire northwest of Groveland.
The McPherson County Sheriff’s Office said Inman and McPherson firefighters were called just after 6 p.m. to the 1000 block of 9th Avenue.
Deputies and McPherson EMS also responded, and on arrival deputies entered the residence and began a search for the occupant who was reported to still be inside the residence.
Due to the intensity of the fire deputies had to back out and once firefighters got inside the occupant was found deceased.
The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire, which preliminary investigation indicated may have been caused by faulty electrical equipment.
The name of the victim has not been released.
