LARNED, Kan. — A two-vehicle crash late Monday afternoon near Larned claimed the life of a Wichita woman and injured three others.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a pickup driven by Brayden Smith of Larned was westbound on K-156 about five miles west of Larned just after 5 PM when he started to lose control on the ice and snow, went left of center, and struck head-on an SUV driven by Daryl Reece of Olathe.
A passenger in the Reece vehicle, Evelyn Reece of Wichita was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers in that vehicle, Ashley Reece and Geri Reece, both of Olathe, were taken to Pawnee Valley Community Hospital with reported minor injuries. Smith was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with reported serious injuries, while Daryl Reece escaped injury.
All occupants of the Reece vehicle were wearing seat belts, no information was available as to Smith.
