Seven winners to receive grants up to $10,000 for community improvement projects
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Evergy’s Hometown Grant program is back.
Beginning today, 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) non-profit agencies can apply for a donation through Evergy’s Energize Our Environment Hometown Grant Program to support a project or program for their organization. Winning organizations will receive up to $10,000 to put toward that project. Non-profits can apply April 7 – May 2, 2025.
The program aims to assist non-profit community agencies in the Evergy service area with a focus on environmental projects. The agencies applying do not need to be environmentally focused, but the project does.
“This is a special opportunity for local organizations to have a big impact when it comes to projects that make their communities better,” said Elizabeth Danforth, Evergy’s Director of Corporate Social Impact. “We’re excited to help agencies spread good energy and get projects off the ground that otherwise may not happen.”
The seven winners will represent seven regions across Evergy’s service area. Recipients will be announced May 19.
Here’s How it works
- Non-profit 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations can apply for an Energize Our Environment Hometown Grant by visiting our Energize Our Environment Hometown Grants website.
- Completed applications must be received by 5 p.m. Central Time on May 2.
- Evergy will select the seven recipients after thoroughly reviewing the project proposals. Grants will be awarded based on the criteria set forth in the application guidelines.
- For applicants not receiving a regional grant, Evergy will offer an opportunity for three non-profit partners and community agencies to receive a People’s Choice Grant of up to $10,000. A list of 10 finalists will be selected by Evergy’s grant committee to be publicized for public voting on Evergy’s Facebook page. These are different projects than the Regional Grant recipients.
