HUTCHINSON Kan. – At 03:09 am Thursday morning the Hutchinson Fire Department responded to 2301 North Severance for a structure in the Care facility. Upon arrival, fire crews found light smoke coming from the laundry room.
Fire crews evacuated the residents in the North wing of the building to a safe location as other fire crews controlled the small fire in the laundry room. The Sprinkler system was working at the time of the fire and was a tremendous factor in keeping the fire confined to the laundry room.
Fire crews removed the smoldering laundry basket and ventilated the North wing of the building.
There are no injuries at this fire and residents have been returned to their rooms.
