HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of Hutchinson is thrilled to announce the selection of Alek Stang as the new Airport Director for Hutchinson Regional Airport. With a diverse background in aviation and a proven record of leadership, Mr. Stang brings invaluable expertise to this pivotal role.
A native of Wichita, Mr. Stang’s passion for aviation was fostered by his family’s involvement in the industry. After graduating from Eastern Kentucky University with a BS in Aerospace Management and a minor in business, along with a private pilot license, Mr. Stang embarked on a varied career journey. His experience includes serving in the U.S. Army as a UH-60 Blackhawk mechanic and crew chief, working as a government contractor for Lockheed Martin, and serving as a ground operations supervisor for Southwest Airlines at Dallas Love Field. Most recently, Mr. Stang served as the Operations Manager at Newton City/County Airport in Kansas, where he thrived under the mentorship of Brian Palmer.
In his new capacity as Airport Director, Alek Stang will oversee Hutchinson Regional Airport, a crucial gateway to the Hutchinson community. Tasked with driving economic development, ensuring safety, and enhancing the passenger experience, Mr. Stang will lead the airport into a future marked by innovation and excellence. Reporting directly to City Manager Mary Grace Clements, Mr. Stang will be responsible for strategic planning, budget management, staff development, and community engagement.
