HUTCHINSON, Kan. — There are still concerns being expressed about a recent change in how the City of Hutchinson handles utility bill payments.
As of this week, the city is no longer taking payments over the phone, a move which Finance Director Angela Richard said was made on the request of their credit card processor due to security concerns. During September, Richard said customers who paid over the phone were told about the change-over.
Richard said an automated phone payment is available, and has been for about five years. Customers wishing to take advantage of this option do need to know their account and customer numbers, which are on their utility bills.
When you call the main utility number, 620-694-2621, there is an option to be transferred to the automated system. Bills can also be paid online through hutchgov.com, in person at City Hall, or using the drop box on the west side of City Hall.
