BUHLER, Kan. – As a member of the Reno County Child Care Task Force, Buhler USD 313 will receive almost $600,00 in Accelerator and Innovation Grant funds. This money is to be dedicated to building a daycare facility at Buhler Grade School and at Plum Creek Elementary.

Each facility will have 39 slots for children from birth to 3 years old.

“The need for child care is critical in our community and we are proud to be part of the solution to serve our staff and families,” USD 313 superintendent Cindy Couchman said.

All totaled, Reno County secured more than $2.4 million towards eight projects to boost local child care capabilities. Learn more here.

“This accelerator grant will be instrumental in helping us begin to address the child care needs of the future and we are excited to see these eight projects unfold with this support,” Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce president Debra Teufel said.

As part of the grant, local entities must raise a percentage of matching funds.  The Buhler Education Foundation has committed to partnering with USD 313 to raise $150,000.

“We will be sharing their fundraising plan and opportunities to donate in the upcoming weeks,” Couchman said. “Please consider making a tax deductible donation that can help generations of families secure loving and consistent daycare.”
