McPHERSON Kan. — An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident Saturday night northeast of McPherson.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said a pickup driven by Brice Kasting of McPherson and going south on 17th Avenue about 8 PM struck 59-year-old Pedro Amezcua-Gonzalez at Mohawk Road a half mile east of the I-135 interchange. Amezcua-Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.
KHP Troop C Public Information Officer Ben Gardner told Ad Astra News this morning following an investigation that troopers were able to locate the vehicle and driver, with Kasting taken into custody Sunday.
McPherson County Jail online logs indicate Kasting is currently being held without bond pending an initial court appearance, date of which is not immediately known. The McPherson County Attorney’s Office has not yet returned messages seeking information on that.
