Voters in Two Reno County Districts Head to the Polls Tuesday

RENO COUNTY, Kan. – Patrons in two Reno County School Districts will head to the polls to vote on bond issues Tuesday. Nickerson-South Hutchinson USD 309 will vote on a $7.6 million proposal while Pretty Prairie USD 311 will consider a just over $7.7 million proposal, both of which will include multiple projects.

The USD 309 bond issue includes new secured entryways and other security upgrades at all four buildings in the district. Two additional classroom spaces would be added to South Hutchinson Elementary School, while Nickerson High School would see renovations to science classrooms and the auditorium.

Projects at Reno Valley Middle School would include the replacement of existing windows on the north side and Vest Vestibule. Restroom renovations to meet ADA requirements and roofing projects are also included at Nickerson Elementary School, Reno Valley Middle School and Nickerson High School.

The bond issue for Pretty Prairie USD 311 is highlighted by new secured entryways at all buildings along with new roofs and windows.

Other projects include auditorium ceiling repairs, remodeling of the Middle School gym, a secure breezeway connecting the Middle School and High School, and at the High School, ventilation and electrical work in the ag shop and science lab along with gas line repairs.

Advance voting for both elections concludes at noon Monday at the Reno County Courthouse, with polls open Tuesday from 7 AM to 7 PM.

Some USD 309 voters will cast ballots at a different place than usual for this election only. Voters in the part of the district in Rice County will vote at Mitchell United Methodist Chapel at 56th and Pennington Road. Mitchel Chapel is also the voting place for Grant and Reno North Townships and for the cities of The Highlands and Willowbrook.

Voters in the City of Nickerson along with Enterprise, Huntsville, Medford and Walnut Townships will vote at the Nickerson Community Center. Salt Creek Township voters and those in the part of USD 309 in the City of Hutchinson will vote at the USD 309 Administration Building on 4th Ave. west of Fun Valley.

The South Hutchinson Community Center is the polling place for USD 309 voters in the City of South Hutchinson along with Lincoln, Reno South and Yoder Townships.

In USD 311, voters in Albion, Roscoe and Ninnescah Townships in Reno County and all voters in the Kingman County part of the district will vote at the Pretty Prairie Senior Center. Voters in Castleton Township vote at the Township Hall, and voters in Arlington, Loda, Troy and Bell Townships vote at the Ninnescah Golden Agers Center in Arlington.
