HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College has announced that Terri McQueen Professor of Mathematics, has been selected as the 2023-24 Dragon Educator of the Year.
McQueen was selected from nominees from all academic areas by the HutchCC Student Government Association (SGA) for the honor. The instructors are nominated by Hutchinson Community College students, and then complete a selection and personal interview process conducted by SGA. McQueen received her honor at the College’s commencement on May 3.
Said one of her student nominators: “She has made math so easy for me. Coming into college, math was my worst and least favorite subject but after taking classes with her, it is my best grade and I actually enjoy it.” Added another: “She is so patient and explains math in a way that is easy to understand. She is also one of the kindest people and is quick to help you if you have a question.”
McQueen has taught at HutchCC since 2002. She teaches Basic Algebra, Intermedia Algebra, College Algebra and Calculus. She received her Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelors of Science in Business/Finance from Emporia State University and earned her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, also from Emporia State.
