WICHITA, Kan. (GoShockers.com) – Wichita State men’s basketball bolstered its backcourt with the signing of Georgia transfer Justin Hill to a financial aid agreement for the 2024-25 season.
A native of Houston, Texas, Hill will be a fifth-year senior on next season’s team after spending the previous two seasons at Georgia and his first two at Longwood (2020-22).
“I’m excited about Justin Hill being a Shocker,” said Wichita State head coach Paul Mills. “He’s an experienced guard who averaged nearly 10 points per game at Georgia and was tremendous with the ball in his hands while making others better. He had more than a 2:1 assist-to-turnover rate while having the third highest assist rate in the SEC this past season. Justin is also a defensive force ranking as one of the top defensive players in the country last season. He will make an immediate impact for our team this upcoming season.”
Hill started appeared in 37 games, making three starts for Georgia in 2023-24 and posted 9.5 points and 3.2 assists per game on 37.9 percent shooting. He had 17 games of 10 or more points, including a season-high 21 vs. Wake Forest in the second round of the NIT. Hill helped lead the Bulldogs the NIT Semifinals before falling to the eventual champions, Seton Hall. As a junior he averaged 8.6 points and 2.7 assists in all 32 games. He’s scored more than 1,000 career points after averaging 12.7 per game in two seasons at Longwood. Hill was named to the All-Big South First Team in 2022 and the Big South All-Freshman Team in 2021.
In 58 career games for the Lancers, he produced career highs of 29 points, 10 rebounds (twice), 11 assists and four steals (twice). He had eight games of 20-plus points and 36 games in double figures.
