McPHERSON, Kan. – Both Bullpup baseball and softball teams had their first home quad Tuesday, April 16, with both teams winning their first games but falling in their second games.
BASEBALL
Game 1 vs. Rose Hill: W 5-4
The Bullpups gave up a 4-1 lead in the 6th and 7th innings, but freshman Carter Bengtson led off the bottom of the 7th with a triple, putting the winning run on base. One pitch later, Cade Strathman drove home the run on a pop-up hit in shallow left-center field.

Game 2 vs. Great Bend: L 3-1
The Bullpups struggled to cross the plate, leaving 14 on base and going against tough Panther pitchers, dropping their 4th game of the season. Great Bend scored all three go-ahead runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.

SOFTBALL
Game 1 vs. Louisburg: W 21-5 (3 inn.)
The Bullpup softball team started off on a high note with 21 base hits, including three doubles and four home runs (2 by H. Hagemann).

Game 2 vs. Derby: L 12-3
In game two, the stat sheet showed the opposite, as Derby put up 16 hits and allowing just four Bullpup hits.

- L: A. Chapman – 4.0 IP, 12 H, 10 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
Both teams will have another home quad on Friday, April 19.
Baseball will start at 4 p.m. against Iola, then will play either El Dorado or Rock Creek. Both games can be heard on 98.9/1540 KMCP.
Softball begins at 4 p.m. as well against Wamego, then will play either Wellington or Southeast of Saline.
