Bullpup Basketball Closes Regular Season with Sweep vs. Mulvane on Senior Night

McPHERSON, Kan – The McPherson Bullpup basketball teams finished off a successful regular season Thursday against Mulvane, wrapping up year that saw both teams go undefeated in AVCTL D3 play and clinching the outright divisional title.


GIRLS – McPherson 56, Mulvane 37

BOX SCORE

After surrendering a lead late in the first quarter, the Bullpups led for the remainder of the 3+ quarters of play winning by 19 points, ending their regular season at 16-4.

Karter Alvord led all scorers with 18 points. Reanna Eilrich finished with 9, Madi Moors had 8.

The Bullpups will be the No. 2 overall seed in the 4A West region.


BOYS – McPherson 79, Mulvane 46

Just like a good portion of the season, this game was over not long after it began. Riding a 20-point lead after one quarter, the Bullpups carried forward with their stellar season, ending the regular season 20-0, making the 2023-24 team the 9th in school history to finish the regular season undefeated.

Cory Muehler and Gabe Pyle each led with 17 points. Owen Pyle and Ian Razak each added 11 as well.

The McPherson boys ride into the postseason as the No. 1 overall team in 4A.


The Sub-State brackets will be released Saturday, Feb. 24. The girls will play their first sub-state game on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at home. The boys will have their first game on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

The State Tournament is held at the Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina March 7-9.
