Men’s Basketball Bulldogs Fall at Home to Saint Mary

McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The McPherson College Bulldogs shot just 17.9 percent from the three point line and 38.2 percent from the field Saturday (Feb. 17) to fall to the University of Saint Mary Spires inside the Sport Center.

With the loss, the Bulldogs have dropped four of their last five games. The Bulldogs are now tied for fifth place in the KCAC standings with just two regular season games to play.

Jamil Hardaway led the Bulldogs with a career-high 26 points and four rebounds. Collin Storr added 12 points and eight rebounds, to go with three steals and a pair of blocks. Curtis Rose rounded out the double digit scoring with 11 points and six assists.

The Bulldogs never led, falling behind 17-8 after nine minutes. A 7-1 burst by the Bulldogs capped off by a triple by Hardaway pulled MC within 18-15. The Spires outscored the Bulldogs 30-14 to close out the half and lead 48-29 at the break.

MC clawed its way back to cut the lead to 60-55 with 10:59 to play in the game, but the Spires answered by pushing its lead back to as many as 18 down the stretch.

The Bulldogs finished 5-for-28 from the three point line, with all five triples coming from Hardaway.

MC will be back in action Wednesday (Feb. 21), when the travel to take on ninth-ranked Southwestern in Winfield, Kan. The Bulldogs return to the Sport Center for the final time in the regular season Saturday (Feb. 24).
