Softball Bulldogs Swept at Eighth-Ranked Central Methodist

FAYETTE, Mo. (MacBulldogs.com) — The McPherson College Bulldogs opened the season Friday (Feb. 9), dropping a twinbill to the No. eight-ranked Central Methodist University Eagles in Fayette, Mo.

GAME ONE – CMU 9, MC 1

CMU jumped out to a 5-0 run after the first two innings, scoring runs in a number of different ways. The Bulldogs scored one run in the fourth, after Karisa Hernandez doubled and Samantha Hollingsworth singled to put runners on the corners. Kassidy New brought Hernandez home.

However, the Eagles added four more in the bottom of the inning.

MC was held to just four hits led by Hernandez with two hits. Hollingsworth and Shelley Jobe each added one hit.

GAME TWO – CMU 8, MC 0

BOX SCORE

In game two, the Bulldogs were no-hit, while Central Methodist scored four runs in the first inning, then two in each of the fourth and fifth innings. The Eagles scored eight runs on eleven hits.

The Bulldogs hit the road Wednesday (Feb. 14) for a doubleheader against Haskell Indian Nations University before opening the home portion of their season Saturday (Feb. 17) to take on (RV) Grand View University.
