City of Hutchinson Welcomes Matthew Williams, AICP, as Director of Community Development

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The City of Hutchinson is delighted to announce the appointment of Matthew Williams, AICP, as the new Director of Community Development, starting December 19, 2023.

“Matthew Williams brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in planning. We are confident that his leadership and expertise will greatly contribute to the continued development of our community,” said Mary Grace Clements, interim City Manager.

Williams, currently a Land Development and Urban Planner at Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC), has been instrumental in providing planning services for various Kansas communities, managing multiple projects, and supporting economic development organizations.

“I’m eager to get started in Hutchinson and look forward to contributing to the community’s momentum. The future looks bright, and I look forward to collaborating with the team and community stakeholders on future growth,” said Matthew Williams.

In his previous role, Williams played a key role in providing land use planning services to communities across the state, including Hutchinson. He also brings experience in developing comprehensive plans, neighborhood plans, and GIS. Notably, he led successful grant applications, including Wichita’s $1 million Reconnecting Communities Grant.

Matthew Williams holds a Master of Urban Planning from the University of Kansas, concentrating in Housing and Urban Development. His dedication to community development, project management skills, and leadership make him an ideal fit for the City of Hutchinson.
