McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The McPherson College Bulldogs opened the home portion of the season Friday (Nov. 3) with a 67-47 loss to (RV) John Brown University at the McPherson College Classic inside the Sport Center.
Madelyn Hankins led the way for the Bulldogs with 12 points, while Matisyn Moses added ten points and Chloe Clevenger finished with nine points.
The Bulldogs held a 19-17 lead after ten minutes, but a 12-2 spurt by the Golden Eagles gave them a lead they would never relinquish.
MC charged back to trim the lead to 32-26 at the break, but another burst by John Brown, this time a 9-0 run, made it a double-digit deficit. The lead bounced back and forth between eight and ten points until the Golden Eagles broke the game wide open early in the final period.
The Bulldogs were held to just 39.0 percent (16-for-41) shooting from the field, and made four out of 15 shots from beyond the arc. MC also finished with 22 turnovers.
Natalie Smith paced the Golden Eagles with a game-high 18 points and five assists. Emily Sanders added 13 points, while Bella Irlenborn had 12 points and Graci Harris scored 11 points.
The Bulldogs wrap up the MC Classic tomorrow evening to take on Manhattan Christian College with tipoff coming at 6:00 p.m.
