INMAN, Kan. — A team from Inman High School was the overall Grand Champion in the 2023 Kansas State Fair Scholastic Press Corps competition.
The team includes sophomores Cheyenne Smith, Chesney Black, Sidney Brooks and freshmen Jaycelyn Richter and Alexis Noone competed against 37 other teams from 28 schools around the state. The team was tasked with creating a four-page newsletter from scratch including taking photos, interviewing people, writing stories, and design work, all of which was on a 6 p.m. deadline.
In addition to being the overall grand champion, Inman students also won awards for best headlines and best agricultural story. Other area schools participating included Canton-Galva, McPherson and Nickerson.
The three Inman sophomores competed in the 2022 Scholastic Press Corps, where they placed 4th.
