CONWAY SPRINGS, Kan. – The Trinity Catholic football team battled Conway Springs well into the second half Friday, but turnovers and Conway Springs’ depth carried the Cardinals to a comfortable 41-6 win in the regular-season finale.

The win clinched the Class 1A District 7 title for Conway Springs.

Trinity started bright with a 42-yard touchdown pass from Drew Dechant to Eric Armour. Conway Springs answered with two Brayden Kunz touchdown runs from 14 and 38 yards.

Late in the second quarter, Trinity was driving but an interception gave Conway Springs the ball and a 14-6 lead at half. It was one of three red zone drives where Trinity came away without scoring.

Kunz had an 80-yard touchdown run in the second half, as well as a 39-yarder. Isaac Winter added a pair of touchdown runs.

Trinity will head to Plainville this Friday for the first round of the 1A playoffs.
