Regional Golf Results: Buhler, Hesston Punch Tickets to State

WAMEGO, Kan. – Buher golf shot a 417 on Monday to place in third at the 4A Wamego Regional. McPherson’s 425 placed them in fifth.

The Crusaders qualified for next week’s State Tournament in Winfield behind solid outings by Marlie Cooper, Macy Miller, and Brynlee Frank. Cooper’s 98 landed her in 12th place with Miller (100) not far behind in 14th. Frank shot a 105 to finish 19th.

“I was very proud of our players, they showed some grit, competitiveness, and toughness,” Head Coach Brennan Torgerson said. “Wamego Country Club is a very difficult golf course.”

The stacked regional saw 7 of the top 10 teams in 4A matched up. Wameo won the tournament with a 367 with Topeka-Hayden in second at a 378.

Individually, McPherson’s Brodie Kuhn (92) slotted in 10th in the final standings to qualify for State. The 4A State Tournament will be held October 16-17 at the Salina Municipal Golf Course.

3-2-1A Results

Hesston is headed to State in 3-2-1A after posting the third-best score on Monday at the Jefferson West Regional. The Swathers shot a 389. Silver Lake’s 345 won the tournament, while Jefferson West (363) finished in second.

Hesston’s Meg Warner had a solid day on the course, medaling in fifth with an 87. Teammate Elizabeth Hosford placed 15th shooting a 97.

Larned’s Erin Tims made the most of her day on the course at the 3-2-1A Regional in Goodland. A 10th place, 103 qualifies her for State. As a team, the Indians shot a 455 to finish in fifth.

Hesston will host 3-2-1A State October 16-17 at Hesston Golf Course.
