LAWRENCE, Kan. – Buhler Cross Country continued its strong season, competing at the Rim Rock Classic last Saturday.
The Boys team won the event, beating out 40 other teams. Gavin Lindahl was the leading runner for the Crusaders. He finished in 4th place with a time of 16:21. Kaden Lohrentz finished 8th and Layne Whisler finished 11th.
The Girls finished third out of 32 teams. Corbin Starkweather was their top finisher in 20th place with a time of 21:18.
Head Coach Curtis Morgan walked away from the meet happy again, “We had a great day at KU.”
Soccer
Soccer took on Mulvane last Tuesday and continued to roll through their season. After a 6-0 victory they are now 7-1 on the season and have won six straight.
Senior Dawsyn Valdois had a hat-trick with three goals in the game. Jaylen Cherry, Von Woleslagel and AJ Thetford each added a goal.
Golf
Last week was busy for Buhler Golf. The Crusaders competed in the Cheney High School Invitational on Tuesday. They finished third out of ten teams with a final score of 411. Pratt won the meet with a score of 379.
Marlie Cooper continued her strong season. The Senior tied for sixth place with a score of 95. Brynlee Frank and Macy Miller also had a good outing, finishing 18th and 19th place.
In the 9-hole Circle Invitational Thursday, they finished second. Macy Miller finished T4 with a score of 45 and Marlie Cooper finished sixth with a score of 47.
In their home Buhler Invitational on Friday, they finished eighth out of sixteen teams with a team score of 390.
After the up-and-down week, Head Coach Brennan Torgerson is looking ahead to next week, “We didn’t play as well as we did the week before. The goal is to focus on improving as we get towards league and regionals.”
Volleyball
At the Newton Invitational on Saturday, Buhler fell short in three matches. In their match against McPherson, they lost both sets 23-25, 17-25. Against Newton, they lost 18-25, 21-25. They battled Wichita East to a three-set score of 25-22, 25-27, 14-25.
Tennis
Tennis competed in the Salina South Invitational last Thursday. They finished third out of eight schools. Kayleigh Hamby finished sixth in singles and Ashlyn Coker finished seventh in the singles bracket. Jaiden Gillette and Haeleigh Ruiz did well with a third-place finish in doubles. Mady Tanksley and Faith Miller finished 6th in doubles.
