GOESSEL Kan. — During halftime of the Goessel High School football game with Herington tonight, the school will be recognizing Randolph Woelk, known as the “Galloping Goose” with a new memorial plaque.
Randy Woelk, from Goessel, (1939 GHS Graduate), was Goessel High’s first state champion, winning the mile run at the KU Relays where he broke the high school record held by Glenn Cuningham. Woelk also ran one of the fastest scholastic mile times in the nation his senior year.
