McPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Battle of the Badges Blood Drive is currently going on now, Monday, Sept. 11 from 12 to 6 p.m. and tomorrow, Sept. 12, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 N Elm St, in McPherson, Kan.
The American Red Cross is experiencing a national blood shortage. Hurricane Idalia further strained the blood supply with blood drive cancellations and reduced blood and platelet donations in affected areas. Donors of all blood types are urgently needed, and there is an emergency need for type O blood. Donors are being asked to make an appointment to give now to ensure patients across the country continue receiving critical medical care.
McPherson EMS, McPherson Fire Department and McPherson Law Enforcement are having a competition to see who will win among those who donate and vote.
Presenting donors will be able to cast their vote for EMS, fire, or law enforcement then head to the canteen and eat chili complimentary of Wendy’s, and a Dilly Bar thanks to Dairy Queen. Donors will also receive a Red Cross T-shirt, while supplies last.
