Blue Dragon Soccer Climbs to No. 16 in NJCAA Rankings

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Starting the season 2-0-1, the Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer team moved up two spots in the first NJCAA Division I regular-season rankings released on Monday.

The Blue Dragons are No. 16 this week after decisive victories over Northeastern Junior College and Seward County and a scoreless tie against Garden City.

Hutchinson plays three road games in this week’s rankings period. The Blue Dragons travel to Dodge City on Wednesday and play a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday in Enid, Oklahoma against Crowder College and NOC-Enid.

Dating back to last season, the Blue Dragons have been ranked in eight consecutive polls. That’s the longest consecutive run as a ranked team since the 2016 season.

The Blue Dragons are one of 1 of 5 teams ranked in the Top 20 this week.

Barton is the highest-ranked KJCCC team at No. 10. Butler is at No. 11 with Hutchinson at No. 15, Cowley at No. 18 and Coffeyville at No. 19.

Iowa Western received all seven first place votes and maintained the No. 1 spot in the national rankings. Salt Lake is No. 2, Tyler is No. 3, Eastern Florida State is No. 4 and Monroe is No. 5.

Hutchinson’s 5-0 victory over Seward County on Saturday was the program’s and head coach Sammy Lane’s 249th all-time win.
