Fort Larned Board Approves Purchase of Updated Science Curriculum for District

LARNED, Kan. — At the meeting on Monday, the Fort Larned USD 495 Board of Education approved purchase of an updated science curriculum for the district, authorized letting out for bids the elementary school playground surface and for investment of public funds.

The board also approved the schedule for conducting the evaluation of superintendent Bryan Wachs, who also updated the board on meeting schedules for various advisory groups he meets with with during the school year.

The Fort Larned Board set adult school lunch prices for this year at 4.75 and for breakfast at 2.75. Discussion of a drainage project site was continued to the September meeting.

The USD 495 Board heard a presentation Monday from Larned High School PTO president Rebecca Krehbiel and other PTO members. They gave the Board information about what they have accomplished since the PTO was established this past spring and their plans for the future. During the meeting, the board approved plans for ESSER III funding presented by Superintendent Bryan Wachs. 

There will not be a Larned Chamber of Commerce Coffee Thursday, since they had one on Monday with USD 495. The next Coffee Hour will be August 31st at the Assembly of God Church at their new location on West 8th.
