MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. —The City of Moundridge announced on Friday, Aug. 4, that the City Administrator, Murray McGee will be stepping down on Sept. 1. McGee has been City Administrator for a total of eight years. He served as Economic Development Director for five years and City Administrator for three years.
McGee has accepted the Chief Executive Officer position with the Information Network of Kansas. INK is a public/private partnership charged by the Legislature with expanding the amount and type of Kansas government information available to the public.
The City also shared ways in which McGee has made an impact on the community of Moundridge through the years:
Under McGee’s leadership the City constructed a new electrical substation, a new Community Swimming Pool, renovated a former Church into a new Library and the Police Department converted the old library into a new law enforcement facility
McGee was also instrumental in securing millions of dollars in grant funding to extend electrical utility services to The Bradbury Company and a new gas line extension for Tortilla King. He also secured funding and incentives for several housing development projects.
McGee has also been very active with the Moundridge Chamber of Commerce where he helped with the Black Kettle Festival and Car Show, the Christmas Open House, and Craft Fair along with other community events.
The City Council will immediately conduct a search for a new Administrator. Mayor Kevin Schmidt thanked McGee for his service and expressed his confidence in the City staff who are stepping up to help with the transition during this period.
