HARVEY COUNTY, Kan. — Harvey County Commissioners have extended their moratorium on commercial renewable energy construction to December 5th. A six month moratorium was put in place by the Commission February 21st.
During Tuesday’s meeting they agreed to extend it at the request of the Harvey County Planning and Zoning Advisory Board, which is currently reviewing the county’s Unified Development Code as it relates to renewable energy.
The Harvey County Commission retains authority to lift that moratorium earlier than specified, as before, and is not a permanent ban but rather one that halts potential construction for now.
