ABILENE, Kan. – Don’t miss the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo in Abilene, from Aug. 1-4, presented by Freddy’s Frozen Custards and Steakburgers of Salina and sponsored by Holm Automotive. Each night, the rodeo will begin at 7:30 p.m.

On Aug. 3, there will be a parade at 4 p.m. where you can see Miss Rodeo America and Miss Rodeo K-State, who will be at both the parade and rodeo. You can get their autographs (plus the rodeo clown and bullfighters).

It will also be Tough Enough to Wear Pink night on Aug. 3 to raise awareness for cancer. Donations will be gathered for the Elsie Brooks Memorial Cancer Fund of Dickinson County. More than $42,000 has been raised to help cancer patients in Dickinson Co. in the last 16 years.

At this year’s Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo, 400 cowboys and cowgirls, world champs and the young contenders will compete in bareback riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, team roping, women’s barrel racing, and bull riding.

New this year is Women’s Breakaway Roping, which is the fastest event in pro rodeo.

Rodeo tickets are $10 for adults advanced sales and $13 at the gate. Kids ages 4-10 are $7.

If you are looking for other things to do in the area, the rodeo is held in conjunction with the Central Kansas Free Fair from Aug. 1-6 and the GSA Demo Derby will be Aug. 5 and Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. in Abilene.
