McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson County Commission has extended through at least next January 8th a moratorium on residential subdivision applications.
This continues a moratorium imposed in June, 2022 that directed the county’s planning and zoning administrator to not accept or process applications for residential subdivisions in most unincorporated areas of the county pending a comprehensive review of the impact of residential subdivisions on rural areas and review of current zoning regulations.
The moratorium does not apply to those subdivision proposals within extraterritorial zoning jurisdictions of the cities of Inman, McPherson and Moundridge.
In other news, McPherson area home sales during June was down sharply from a year ago. Data released Tuesday from Prairie Land Realtor’s Mid-Kansas Multiple Listing Service indicated 28 homes were sold in the area, which includes McPherson County and those sales in Marion County through the MLS, which is off 34.9 percent below that of June, 2022. The average sales price came in at 198,725 dollars, down 2,9 percent from last year, and homes were on the market an average of 23 days. As of June 30th there were 48 active listings on MLS in the McPherson area, or about a 1.7 month inventory.
