MCPHERSON, Kan. – The cost of school breakfast and lunch in McPherson USD 418 will be going up 20 cents across the board in the fall. The Board of Education Monday approved a recommendation from Director of Operations Bill Froese to increase charges, which he based on a paid lunch equity tool from the Kansas State Department of Education.
The upcharge also factors in increased food prices and the current budget status. With the price change, USD 418 meal prices remain on the high end of what area school districts charge.
The board also approved a five dollar across-the-board increase in textbook and student material fees, which now figures to 85 dollars per student. This is the first increase in those fees since the 2015-16 school year.
