HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Carey Park Golf Course played host to the highly anticipated 2023 Men’s City Match Play tournament over the weekend, in a showdown between the defending champion, Mason Faucett, and five-time champion, Nick Hague.
The match was tightly contested, and throughout the match, Faucett and Hague exchanged difficult shots. Both players birdied the 15th hole, maintaining an intense battle with only three holes left to play. In a crucial moment, Hague sunk a 15-foot putt on the 17th hole to remain all square with Faucett.
Ultimately, the match ended in a draw, leading to the thrilling playoff where Hague rolled in an 8 foot putt for birdie, sealing his victory and securing an astonishing sixth City Match Play tournament championship.
In addition to the intense competition in the main event, the first flight was won by Ben Lippold, while Jon McLean claimed the victory in the second flight. Jamie Winchester secured the win in the third flight.
