NEWTON, Kan. – An art auction and gala this month will raise funds for a new inclusive playground in Newton.

All Together Now will host the event from 6-8 p.m. July 29 at Carriage Factory Art Gallery, 128 E. Sixth St. It will include live and silent auctions, live music from Prairie Highway, a live painting demonstration by local artist Virgil Penner, light hors d’oeuvres, and wine and beer.

Slate Creek is the host school for all severely-multiply disabled (SMD) students in Harvey County through the Special Education Co-op. This includes students from Hesston, Halstead, and Newton. All Together Now is a fundraising campaign of the Slate Creek PTO whose goal is to raise more than $300,000 for a fully inclusive playground so that all students can play together.

Art for auction at the event will include original pieces by Penner, Joe Loganbill, Susan Bartel, Mary Goering, Glen Ediger, John Waltner, Beth Burns, and others. Art pieces by Slate Creek staff and students, including students in the SMD classroom, will also be auctioned. Special auction items include group art classes, dinner packages, and an autographed jersey from Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The event is open to the public, with entry by donation.

All Together Now Fund is a component fund of the Newton Community Foundation, an affiliate of Central Kansas Community Foundation. All donations are tax-deductible.
