Reno County Commission Approves Fireworks Regulations to Align with the City of Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Reno County Commission has approved an amendment to the county’s fireworks resolution to allow for the use of fireworks which travel more than six feet into the air. This eliminates the so-called “safe and sane” restriction that was put in place in 2012 after a fire caused by fireworks heavily damaged a home on the north edge of Hutchinson.

The Hutchinson City Council took a similar action last week.

The updated resolution covers all unincorporated areas in Reno County. The sale and discharge of fireworks in Hutchinson and Reno County are allowed between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. from June 30 to July 4.

Each incorporated city within a county typically adopts its own regulations.
