Monarchs Collect 12-Hits to Defeat Derby 8-4

DERBY, Kan. – The Hutchinson Monarchs defeated the Derby Twins 8-4, on Sunday, to win the series 2-1. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Hutchinson, but due to weather on Saturday, the game was moved to Derby, due to field conditions at Hobart-Detter Field. 

NJCAA All-American, Will Edmunson was 4 for 5, with a home run and a double. Cooper Harris also collected a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. Brady Beverman started on the mound for the Monarchs, allowing two hits in five innings.

The Twins would tie the game 4-4 in the sixth, but after Hutch collected a run in the seventh, before rallying for three runs in the ninth, out-hitting the Twins 12-7.

Noah Kelley got the win, pitching three innings in relief. In the ninth, Carson Cornelius would strike out two, to secure the 8-4 win, moving the Monarchs to 4-5 overall. They will play the Kansas Cannons at 7:00 p.m. Monday in Augusta, before returning to Hutch on Tuesday. The series will then conclude Wednesday, back in Augusta.
